They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:10-11 Father in heaven, we thank You for the promise of your return; we pray this year, that all people of Algeria will be looking for this same Jesus, first of all in their hearts, and then for your return soon!
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11-12 Lord Jesus today we pray for the Algerians’ persecuted for Your Name. In the midst of their struggles and trial, give them unspeakable joy that will impact their oppressors to salvation in you!
The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned. ”From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Matthew 4:16-17 Lord Jesus we pray for a new light to dawn on those living in the land of the shadow of death. We pray for Algeria – may the Light of Your kingdom shine on this country and may repentance follow as they see the kingdom of God in this new light.
At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” Luke 4:42-43 Just as You said when You were here on earth, the good news must be proclaimed because this is the whole reason you came. As we begin another year, we pray especially for the Algerian believers – give them strength and boldness as well as protection, to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to their fellow countrymen.
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:2 As the Scripture says, we pray for the Algerian people to know the grace and peace that comes through the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
