Praying for Libya

So many people have prayed for Libya for decades to see changes come and an openness to the Gospel. We were awestruck by the changes that took place in 2011 and 2012. No one expected what happened! But now is not the time to stop praying for Libya. This is a nation in desperate need of ongoing prayer.

  • Pray for stability to come. We need a stable and strong government and leadership. We need to see the values of democracy and human rights and freedoms increase. We need to see factions, tribalism, and disunity cease in order to see this nation become stable. One dictator may have been removed, but stability and openness are still illusive!
  • Pray for wisdom and righteousness for the nation\’s leadership. Pray for corruption to fall. Ask for integrity, goodness, mercy and compassion to increase.
  • Ask that God would raise up a new generation of young people with a voice for the future. Pray that God would give these young people a hunger for holiness, truth and freedom. Pray that this whole generation of young people would be increasingly sick of hypocrisy and begin searching for a solid foundation that is found in Christ Jesus!
  • Pray for the believers in this nation to grow in voice, and status, in favour, courage, strength, humility, wisdom, and give them a vision to reach their nation with the Good News of Jesus. Pray for the strengthening of house churches. Ask God for supernatural growth and maturity in their walk with God.
  • Pray that expatriates who have a heart to see this nation grow in stability and productivity will be allowed to come into Libya to establish business, education and training, health care and social projects.

Take this Scripture, read it, meditate on it and ask God to turn it into a prayer for Libya today :

God\’s voice thunders in marvelous ways, he does great things beyond our understanding. — Job 5:9
