The Lord has prepared a feast of rich foods for you, a banquet of the best meat and finest wines. Please allow Him to wipe away your tears and remove the disgrace in Jesus name! (Is.25:6-8)

Ramadan: Night of Power

Laylatul Qadr: The Night of Power

Muslim scholars believe that while the Qur’an was revealed over a period of 23 years the Night of Power is considered the night in which the first revelations of Islam and the prophethood of Mohammed began. This night is in celebration of the arrival of the Qur’an. It is usually celebrated about the 26th night of Ramadan. This year is is expected to fall on July 24th.

The whole Night of Power, from sunset to dawn is the holiest night of the year where groups of special angels might be seen. On this night many people will try to pray all night long. They may try to read or recite the whole Qur’an through. It is also believed by many to be a night of “open heaven” where spiritual encounters are more likely to happen. Some look for a mystical experience, like dreams and visions, as they seek guidance and revelation. Others use this opportunity to pray prayers of intercession on behalf of a person or situation (this kind of prayer is not common to Muslim practise). Others also focus on praying prayers of blessing and forgiveness.

Its an important night to be praying for the Muslim world. We know that Jesus is the true source of revelation and power. We ask God to give people dreams, visions and revelation of Jesus. We ask God to come in power on this night. We ask protection against evil spirits and demonic activity over the lives of believers and workers, and also over the lives of our Muslim brothers and sisters.

If you can get a group of friends together to pray, please do that! For more ideas about how to organise prayer for this night, please read more: []

Father, we ask for dreams and visions of Jesus in Mauritania during this Ramadan. Reveal yourself as the God of forgiveness. We ask that there be understanding of the need of forgiveness for our sins.

Father, we ask for dreams and visions of Jesus in Morocco during this Ramadan. May a quest for holiness become something that is very real to many, not just an act carried out for a few weeks during Ramadan. Reveal yourself as a Holy God.

Praying for Marrakech

Marrakech is a famous tourist destination in Morocco. The beautiful red-coloured city has captured the imagination of people all over the world for centuries. A city of about 1.2 million people, the Church is very small. This is the capital of folk Islam where ancient African folk practises combine with more orthodox Islam. The famous square, Jemaa el Fna, is a gathering point for fortune tellers and psychics, witchdoctors and traditional medicine men.
